Father, Why hast Thou forsaken Me?
By becoming the curse and taking on Himself the sins of the world
Matthew 27:46 “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
By becoming the curse and taking on Himself the sins of the world, He had to feel the absence of the Father, even hopelessness. For this would be our reward had we not come unto Him.
Galatians 3:13 “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:” 2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 1 Corinthians 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
